albatross

The Albatross about My Neck Was Hung
watercolor on paper
11" x 8.5"

I'm planning to enter this one in the East End Arts Council's next juried show, which has water as its theme.

A question for the audience: Is it apparent what is happening in this picture, or is it too subtle?

By the way, my painting entitled Levi (see previous post) was accepted in the "Bodies at Rest" show, and it's on display until July 10 at the EEAC in Riverhead. High five!

To me it looks like the albatross is breaking through some kind of rigging or net--or getting tangled in it....but given the quote, does it mean that it's been shot--it doesn't look dead yet.... so subtle...I don't know. It's a BEAUTIFUL picture!

It looks either caught or breaking through...some situation that one feels uneasy about. Striking.

Striking and unsettling, but an amazing piece!

you're close...it's caught underwater, in a fishing net. i've since added a few more lines of netting that make the image a little clearer.
